We follow the seashells around Almere Poort, the Netherland's youngest city. On the land that has only recently been 'reclaimed' from the sea.
We steal a brick, decorated with a thin layer of crushed seashells. We hit the seashells that pave the road around the lake with a hammer. We dig the mud and build a kiln to burn the seashells. We make a fire to make them dissolve into lime.
We follow the seahells and find contradictions and ambiguities.
"[....]On the other hand they say it was a revolutionary idea to reclaim the land from the sea, On the other hand beneath the pavement lies the sea, On the other hand it started with a simple theft, a question of ownership, you could call it a revolution, On the other hand it felt good, On the other hand why does the primitive man take of his shirt, On the other hand it also felt good. On the other hand we hit them with a hammer for ten minutes, On the other hand I always cry when something breaks,[...]"
